Ad Minoliti is an Argentinean-born visual artist, activist and the co-founder of the feminist art collective PintorAs. In their painting installations, they draw on the repertoire of modernist art, popu­lar culture, queer aesthetics and feminist theory, using a language that referenc­es abstract, geometrical architectural forms. The artist’s works often depict utopian, trans-human, gender-queer alternative universes, while emphasising the shared elements of human experi­ence. Their delightful visions frequently include human and animal figures. In a series of colouring books, animals inhabit human habitats. 

Their new creation for this exhibition, Nature is Queer – Tribute to Lin May Saeed (2024), depicts a landscape inhabited by humans and non-human animals. The style is characteristical­ly abstract and geometrical, but the black-and-white painting resembles a shadow landscape, in a break with the eye-catching colours of previous pro­jects. The painting is exhibited next to the Sonic Room, implying that it may also relate to the poetic idea of the music score.
